The Marrakesh wastewater treatment plant
Project
This project gave the five flagship areas of expertise concentrated in the Group’s Moroccan subsidiary GÉNÉRALE ROUTIÈRE – civil engineering, earthworks, specialist groundworks, pipelines and roads – the opportunity to demonstrate their prowess, at the same time as meeting a short deadline for the structural phase of work.
The plant can treat up to 150,000 m3 of wastewater, and is sized to meet the ever-increasing demand for water resources, driven particularly by the need to irrigate golf courses and landscaped areas. In addition to its treatment capacity, this industrial complex also plans to generate 14 GWh of energy by methanising the residual sludge produced by the process.
